The Action Cats
Album Cover Redesign
Client: The Action Cats (2023)

For this project, I collaborated with a small underground band preparing to launch a new album while expanding their presence on streaming platforms like Spotify. As part of their rebranding effort, they decided to redesign the cover of a previous album—a work that held personal and artistic significance.

Through collaborative brainstorming sessions, we developed a bold new color palette that injected fresh energy into the artwork while honoring the original design’s emotional resonance. The goal was to reflect the band’s evolution in both sound and style, creating a visual identity that would captivate new listeners and resonate with long-time fans.

The final design acts as both a tribute and a transformation—a refreshed visual that bridges the band’s early work with their current creative direction, reinforcing their identity while signaling growth.

This project demonstrates my ability to:
-
Redesign existing work while maintaining its emotional and stylistic integrity
-
Collaborate closely with artists to reflect their creative vision
-
Create bold, engaging visuals tailored for digital music platforms
-
Support branding and audience engagement through thoughtful design evolution

“The Action Cats Never Die” – Album Cover Photo Selection & Concept
Client: The Action Cats (2023)
This project centered around selecting and refining the visual concept for The Action Cats’ long-awaited return to the music scene. Originally formed during their college years, the band built a loyal following with their raw sound, rebellious energy, and DIY spirit. After a long hiatus, they were ready to relaunch—with a visual that matched their renewed fire.

The chosen image—four determined cats walking away from a massive explosion—immediately resonated with the band. It perfectly captured their identity: bold, unbothered, and completely unapologetic. To them, it symbolized resilience, reunion, and the sheer joy of making noise together again.

The cover blends humor, grit, and attitude, reinforcing their message: The Action Cats never die—they just reload.

This project demonstrates my ability to:
-
Collaborate with musicians to shape brand-driven visual storytelling
-
Select imagery that aligns with tone, audience, and message
-
Support music branding with bold, narrative-centered design choices
-
Translate band identity into a striking, memorable album cover
“Pounce” – Comeback Single Cover
Client: The Action Cats (2023)
After years of hiatus, The Action Cats wanted a cover image that distilled their off-beat spirit and explosive return to the stage. The band had treasured this photograph for years: an airborne figure in candy-striped socks, a fearless cat mid-leap, a surreal mask, and stark, theatrical lighting. The scene’s playful chaos mirrors their sound—unpredictable, energetic, and unapologetically weird—making it the perfect visual anthem for their comeback.

My role was to refine the raw photo into a compelling single cover. I enhanced the lighting contrasts to amplify the drama, balanced color tones to spotlight the striped motion, and tightened the composition so every element—the airborne jump, the cat’s pounce, the dreamlike mask—reads instantly in streaming thumbnails and print alike. The final artwork captures the band’s leap back into the spotlight and celebrates the wild creativity that defines their music.
